I should be used to the sleepless nights by now, but it still ticks me off when these pregnancy hormones keep me from doing the one thing I need the most. On the plus side, most days I don't feel pregnant. I eat what I want. I haven't been very sick. And I have a fair amount of energy to chase a one-year old and keep the house semi-clean. I can't complain too much.
The last few weeks are kind of a blur. I turned 31 at the beginning of October (gasp!). I was hoping to let it come and go without celebration, but Teri got me to agree to dinner. Free food is hard to refuse, especially when it involves German pancakes. I love having breakfast for dinner.
I get less and less excited about birthdays the older I get. Another year older, a few pounds heavier... nothing too exciting. I don't feel old when I think about the number, but when I was deciding how to spend my birthday cash, it hit me. YOU ARE OLD. Here's what I bought:
1) Beverly Cleary book collection from Costco
This set includes most of the Ramona Quimby books and some of the Mouse and the Motorcycle books.
2) Some Scentsy bricks to make the house smell yummy.
3) Tupperware... I would even say it's cute Tupperware and stain resistant.
4) Food. More specifically, dinner out at one of my favorite places - La Fiamma.
5) ... a work in progress. I'm still looking for a new soft and cuddly blanket to add to my collection. I love blankets.
I've come to terms with the fact that these are lame purchases for most, but they made me very happy. (Thank you everyone for hooking me up with some cash to spend).
Back to the pregnancy... I recently went to the doctor for a routine check-up. Everything is going well. I'm 16 weeks now and heartbeat and everything else is good. They were a little concerned that I'm still losing weight, but I'm totally okay with it. I know it will all be back in the last trimester. The most exciting part of the appointment was scheduling my ultrasound!! I'm so ready to find out what we're having. Really I just want to see if my suspicions are confirmed. I'm thinking girl, but we'll find out for sure on November 5th, assuming baby cooperates.
Aside from that... here's what we've been up to according to our photos:
Robert hanging out with Mom... this is pre-haircut.

Robert getting his fill of Sesame Street six inches from the TV.
This is after the haircut. I'm kind of sad about how short and choppy it is. I like it when it gets a little wavy.

Another one of his favorite "toys", the Swiffer Duster handle. He carries this all over the house and pokes at things.

On a completely unrelated note, here's where we spent most of today (Saturday):
... clipping this beast of a hedge. My parents came out to help with the first half and we managed to get most of the second half done today. There's quite a bit to do still, but it's coming along. I was convinced we were going to find some dead bodies in there or something, but our hedge is just a hedge with a few bird nests and some random bottles and cans. That's the news.
Off to try that sleep thing again...

I guess there is someone out there who got less sleep than I generally do on a Saturday. At least you got something done. :-) (Blog)
I hope you get some needed Zzz's today... I'll probably talk to you later.
Love, Mom (off to face Michael's class again... doing a "musical" lesson today with Isaiah set to music). ;-)
Congratulations you guys on an upcoming addition to the family!
I'm guessing girl too. Oh that would be so exciting! I don't sleep much either so maybe we can be nocturnal pen pals.
P.S. No one would guess you turned 31. Just tag along with whatever year Alex is on and people will believe you :)
Got some sleep last night - it was AMAZING!!
Valerie - I like that idea... oh to be 24 again.. : )
