Bad Day...

Today may have been a bad day, but at the end of the day this little face makes me so happy...

He's Here!

Robert Alexander Booth
born 4:51 am
8 lbs 5 oz
20 inches long

You can't tell in these photos but the little guy definitely is hairy; he's definitely our son. We think he has Alex's mouth, chin and hairline. The rest of his features are still mysterious to us. He does somehow have some Miller in him though.

Anyway, we couldn't be happier. He's doing well. We'll post more pictures later.

10 cm

Kristine is dilated to 10 cm.

She started feeling the contractions enough that pressing the button didn't help. When they checked her, she had gone from a 2+ to a 10 in 2 hours.

Yeah, that's why the epidural wasn't helping as much.

Anyway, it sounds like we have an hour more of rest. We'll keep you posted.

Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend...

I beg to differ.
EPIDURALS are a girl's best friend. No question.

Currently my contractions are about 4 minutes apart... they've got me on Pitocin to help the process along and the best part is - I feel nothing!!!

Now it's time for some sleep...

Feel free to call if you need an update.. we're just hanging out... still waiting, but at least now there's an end in sight.

P.S. Room with a view.. directly out my window is the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.

Ummm, yeeaahh...

Kristine's water broke, we'll head to the hospital as soon as her contractions pick up. Thanks for rooting for her. We'll keep you posted.

Still Waiting...

Just a quick update for those who have asked and are eagerly awaiting a phone call/text message/e-mail/blog post with baby news...

No baby... yet.

Sorry to disappoint.

He's definitely still in there rockin' out, but running out of space. No more flip turns. Mostly hiccups and squirming. I'm continuing to go to work everyday (minus the time I've taken off to recover from the cold of the century) until this little guy makes his appearance.

As promised, we will be sure to spread the word as soon as we see some progress.

**Michele, I think you might be right. He's waiting until the 25th so you can share a birthday.

Hey guy, it's your birthday!!

That would be this guy, not the baby.
Today, Alex is 23!

Unfortunately, we have a few things keeping us from enjoying birthday festivities.

1) We both have nasty colds. Based on our snot analysis, we're equally sick, but he has the benefit of being able to take drugs that will actually make him feel better.

2) The idea of baking a sugar-free cake or sugar-free anything else just feels wrong. (Sugar makes him crazy.)

3) At any moment Baby Booth could make an appearance, making it difficult to go anywhere that's not within close proximity to the hospital.

4) Alex is gone most of today with school and work - the ultimate birthday downer. How's a guy supposed to enjoy his own birthday if he's working??

It looks like we'll be putting this birthday celebration on hold... or settling for a makeshift party consisting of Kleenex, Orange Juice and lots of R&R.

Here are a few things I love about my husband:

He's not swayed by what other people think and will always do what is right regardless. (This can also be super annoying, but in the end, I'm glad he sticks to his guns.)

You can always tell when he's about to conk out for the night because he'll say something completely unrelated to the conversation and usually hilarious.

Most people think he's super serious, but really, he's not. He has a great (semi-twisted) sense of humor.

He has a shoe fetish and is totally anal about keeping his shoes clean. It's kind of funny.

He can't wait to be a Dad.

He'll often make comments that are completely callous, not even realizing it. To him, he's just stating the obvious.

He helps keep the house clean. If the bed is made, he's always the one who did it. (I'm not much of a bed maker).

He watches chick flicks... and likes them.

He works hard.

He's all about Physics and Math, but not nerdy.

He doesn't hold grudges.

Even on my worst days, he'll take a minute to tell me I look good (even though I know he's lying, it's nice to hear).

We have our struggles, but I'm so happy to be married to such a wonderful person.

Happy Birthday, Love!!

Dear Baby Booth,

My Dearest Baby Booth,
I know I haven't always been nice and maybe I've made a few jokes at your expense, but at some point you have to forgive and forget. It's your Dad's birthday tomorrow and he'd love nothing more than to share it with you. You love your Dad, don't you? Don't you think it's time to come out? I do.

Hope to see you soon...

Love,

Mom

40 Weeks Today

.... No Baby Yet.

We'll let you know immediately when that changes. Chances are, I will be back to work tomorrow... and that bums me out.

"The little Sophie, she started to dance..."

Oh. My. Goodness.
Today marks a momentous occassion - Sophie is 11!! Can you believe it? Our little Sophie is rapidly outgrowing all those around her and becoming a teenager.

Here are some things Alex and I love about Sophie:

Sophie's laugh is 100% maniacal 100% of the time. We're pretty sure she's going to take over the world one day.

She has interesting methods of getting people's attention - i.e. throwing sandwiches at them.

She is an amazing artist. We have saved all of our Sophie artwork because it always makes us smile when we're having a bad day. Truly. When we were moving I came across the picture she drew of Alex and I getting married... and the tornado that struck.

She's a cuddler - and a bed hog! (I recall being run off an air mattress at Jenna's the night before Alex and I got married...)

She's a chicken farmer.

She loves to read and give us the recap of what she's reading.

She's an excellent swimmer! (This makes Alex very happy).

She's smart, creative and funny. We love that she's not afraid to be herself.

Keep being you Sophie. We love you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Anyone up for a game of Basketball??

Here's the catch... I ate the basketball.
If anyone can figure out how to get it out, we can play.

Field Report 9.12.2009

Operation B-Day
Location: Armored Womb Pod

Objective: Induce or Expedite Debarkation of Target

Target: Robert A. Booth, aliases "Baby Booth", "The Parasite"

Status: Target has been isolated and meticulously monitored. Target is markedly dangerous and is using the protection of the armored womb pod to stage counter-attacks. We have attempted the removal of said target on multiple occasions with varied means, but remain unsuccessful.

Tactical Analysis:

1000: Transported the pod over long distance and varied terrain in an attempt to jar the target out of the pod. Target has flooded our propulsion systems with excess coolant--causing minor seizing. Further attempts of jarring have been abandoned.

1800: Contaminated target's food supply with spicy irritants. Target used irritants to ignite burning in area surrounding the pod. Attempts to chemically extinguish burning have failed. Contamination of target's food supply has been discontinued.

2000: Deployed special agent "Grandma M" to initiate peaceful negotiations with target. Target has rejected all proposals made by "Grandma M." Special agents "Sophicula" and "Nana" have been alerted and are proceeding to war zone.

At present time, target has ceased all hostilities. Further removal attempts have been abandoned. Target will continue to be closely monitored for signs of movement or hostility.

Commanding Officer: Field Major K. Booth
Supporting Officer: Tactical Advisor A. Booth

Breaking the Silence

It's been awhile since I posted. I wish I had something amazing to post about, but no. Just the usual ranting about pregnancy stuff... so I'll go with that.

As of late, I've been in a monster funk. Like most everything, I blame the pregnancy. I went from cute pregnant chick to beached whale over the course of a few days. I didn't even realize how big I was until I went to Target and caught a glimpse of a large pregnant chick waddling in the window. It was totally me. Thank goodness our bathroom mirror is MUCH smaller and doesn't give me the full view. Last night pretty much did me in. Alex and I were in the middle of a conversation. It ended abruptly when I looked down and exclaimed, "Alex, my ankles are gone!!" Seriously. Gone. He laughed. We compared ankles. He laughed some more. I wanted to cry.

So, yes... to sum it up, I'm ready for the baby to exit this vessel ASAP. Mentally I'm completely freaked, but the physical annoyances/discomforts are giving me the illusion of readiness.

On a semi-unrelated note. Alex won Husband of the Year award yesterday. As I mentioned previously (or not), yesterday was the worst day ever. I woke up with a headache, had a stressful day and felt crampy, tired and semi-nauseous all day to boot. By the time I got home I was on the verge of meltdown. Alex took one look at me, made his assessment and said exactly what I needed to hear, "How about we go out for a nice dinner?" It was PERFECT. We had dinner at Carrabba's and made a pit stop at the mall. A perfect evening. One might even refer to it as a date (don't tell Alex). :)

I go in for my weekly check-up tomorrow. At last week's visit I was approximately 75% effaced and dilated to a 1. I'm due on the 20th and will be induced on the 30th if I haven't delivered by then. Let's all just start praying now that I deliver sooner than later.
