That would be this guy, not the baby.Today, Alex is 23!
Unfortunately, we have a few things keeping us from enjoying birthday festivities.
1) We both have nasty colds. Based on our snot analysis, we're equally sick, but he has the benefit of being able to take drugs that will actually make him feel better.
2) The idea of baking a sugar-free cake or sugar-free anything else just feels wrong. (Sugar makes him crazy.)
3) At any moment Baby Booth could make an appearance, making it difficult to go anywhere that's not within close proximity to the hospital.
4) Alex is gone most of today with school and work - the ultimate birthday downer. How's a guy supposed to enjoy his own birthday if he's working??
It looks like we'll be putting this birthday celebration on hold... or settling for a makeshift party consisting of Kleenex, Orange Juice and lots of R&R.
Here are a few things I love about my husband:
He's not swayed by what other people think and will always do what is right regardless. (This can also be super annoying, but in the end, I'm glad he sticks to his guns.)
You can always tell when he's about to conk out for the night because he'll say something completely unrelated to the conversation and usually hilarious.
Most people think he's super serious, but really, he's not. He has a great (semi-twisted) sense of humor.
He has a shoe fetish and is totally anal about keeping his shoes clean. It's kind of funny.
He can't wait to be a Dad.
He'll often make comments that are completely callous, not even realizing it. To him, he's just stating the obvious.
He helps keep the house clean. If the bed is made, he's always the one who did it. (I'm not much of a bed maker).
He watches chick flicks... and likes them.
He works hard.
He's all about Physics and Math, but not nerdy.
He doesn't hold grudges.
Even on my worst days, he'll take a minute to tell me I look good (even though I know he's lying, it's nice to hear).
We have our struggles, but I'm so happy to be married to such a wonderful person.
Happy Birthday, Love!!

Yay for birthdays! But I'm sorry you guys are both sick. I bet its the swine flu. Darn pigs. Also, I like how your little "bun in the oven" count down says baby booth is 2 days old. Make him come out already so I can be his weird aunt-cousin or whatever I'll be to him.
I hate that thing... I've renamed it.
Happy Birthday Alex!! I hope you both are feeling better before baby Robert decides to grace you with his presence!! Kristine, I love the new name of the countdown!
I just noticed that also... after seeing it read "2 days old." How about they change it to overdue? ;-)
Oh, well... it did its job keeping track of the countdown. Won't be much longer. I hope your nose clears up a bit before baby decides to make his exit.
Love, Mom
And a happy, happy to Alex. This won't be the most fun birthday, but one of the most memorable.
