I ate dinner!!
I feel so accomplished by that alone, but really the best part is where we ate. Our favorite Thai restaurant (in Provo) - Spicy Thai. It was delicious. Larb Kai, Vegetable Fried Rice and something new, Pad Kee Mow. It's my new favorite. It's kind of like Pad Se Iwe, but it has Thai Basil and some other totally edible flavors going on. Seriously, SO GOOD! I tried to find a picture, but they didn't have one... so here's everything else instead.

I have yet to try the Beef Waterfall, another favorite of mine.. but I'm hoping to someday, if Beef ever sounds good again.
Other random news/events...
I go in for a check up on Monday. My pooch is growing and although this isn't going to be "the appointment" (you know, the one where we can assign a gender to this kid that's been torturing me), I should be able to schedule that appointment for next time, about a month from now.
This Saturday we are having a Webelos Scout Party! Each week we spend an hour with the boys doing Scout related activities. It's been a little rough getting comfortable with this calling, but we see little improvements with time. Unfortunately, we have one ongoing problem. Each week the boys seem to get distracted by a small white box next to our TV - the Wii. Just seeing it there seems to bother them. About a month ago I decided to work with it. I cut them a deal - show up on time, in uniform, ready to go for a month and we'll have a Wii party. At the time I didn't realize how powerful these words would be. The following week they all arrived on time, they participated... one could even say they may have even learned something. It was great.
Magically, they've maintained their good behavior for the month. Now it's time to make good on our end of the deal. (Of course the boys don't forget anything, so they've been reminding us each week). Yesterday we gave them the good news, it's time for a party. They were so excited. Especially one boy. He later realized that he was going to be out of town this weekend with family. We told him we'd wait and have the party in 2 weeks. He was bummed. I could hear him trying to negotiate with his Mom to reschedule their family plans so we could have our party. Apparently he won (or maybe the snowy weather ruined camping plans). Either way, today I got a call. I didn't recognize the number, but on the other end was a very small voice. "Hi, this is Addison. My family isn't going camping Saturday, so maybe now we can have our party?" I told him I'd check with Alex and the other boys and let him know by tomorrow. So, yes, we are having our party, this Saturday from 2-4.
On a side note, the boy that called is hilarious. He often goes off on tangents, creating ridiculous scenarios and answers to our questions, giving us all a laugh in the meantime. Here is one scenario from our den meeting this week:
Wednesday he got to our house as I was cutting a cantaloupe. He immediately grabbed one of the halves and pretended to eat the seeds. I told him he was welcome to eat it, but I didn't think he could eat a whole half.. much less a half with seeds. After letting me de-seed it, he went to work... making sure to finish every last bite so he could prove me wrong.
Later in the evening he asked, "What do you guys do for birthdays (he turns 10 next week)? I responded, "String boys from the ceiling and feed them cantaloupe until they pop." On some level I think he liked that answer, but only because it opened the gate for him to pick at me. The war has begun.
Later he asked,"So, what are you having anyway?"
Me: "A baby, probably a boy or girl... we should know in about a month."
Boy: " I bet it's going to be an alien... like your husband."
Me: "You know, I think you could be right."
He's pretty funny, even though he gets us off track at times.
And now... the best upcoming event:
ALEX'S FAMILY WILL BE HERE SATURDAY!!!
I've been trying not to think about it, but it's kind of like Christmas .. and now it's only 2 days away! I can't wait to see everyone!
