Success!

Yesterday I started Thanksgiving prep and attempted to bake rolls. I've made them before, but never in Utah where the climate is drastically different. Needless to say, it didn't go well. The dough came out funky and after ranting for several minutes, I tossed it. I know. It was a total waste, but I was mad and the dough just needed to go away. I decided to try again today and got much better results.

Success!! I am pleased with the rolls, but was even more pleased with my next discovery.

A sleeping baby!

We've had a couple rough days of fussiness, but today he seemed better... or maybe I've just been tuning him out...

Here are some pics I took earlier today - he's modeling his new outfit from Alicia. Thanks, Alicia!

Hey... those rolls look great! :-) I hope mine look as good after they get baked. I took so long yesterday, those have a strong yeasty taste. :-P We'll manage to eat them anyway, but wanted better ones for next week.

Hope you get a little nap... loved the baby pictures. Nothing is as angelic as a sleeping child.

(Even though he doesn't look just like him... there's something about little Robert sometimes that reminds me a lot of his Grandpa Booth...like picture number three in Alicia's sleeper. It's something that comes more from his personality.) I suspect he's going to be noisier though. ;-)

Talk to you later!

Love, Mom

Kristine your rolls look DELICIOUS!! Did you make them from scratch or were they phillsbury dough boy? If they are from scratch I would love to have the recipe and your trick to making them look so perfect, I am awful at rolling cresent rolls! Robert is so cute, he seems like he is such a happy little guy, the 4th picture down (in the cute little animal jammies) I see so much of you...I can't wait to squeeze his little cheeks!!

oh...one last thing...do you remember the time we tried to make rolls and forgot to add the yeast? I remember Michael giving us such a hard time and your Dad "trying" to eat one just to be nice!

The rolls are from scratch and took about 3 hours start to finish (including rising time). I think of that time we made rolls EVERY time I make rolls. They were so disgusting. Rock hard and the yeast didn't dissolve all the way so they tasted awful! I'm glad I've made a ittle progress since then. :)
I was having issues getting these shaped right. Somehow they looked okay once they were baked. I think the trick is rolling the dough thin enough so they are easier to roll. My dough was still pretty sticky, so that was tricky... but otherwise, it wasn't too bad. I e-mailed you a link to the recipe. Call me if you have any questions.
On a good day, Robert is pretty good natured. Instead of Mylicon I've been using this stuff called Gripe Water. He seems to do better with it.
