One of my favorite traditions we've started since being married is Sunday breakfast. Every Sunday we make a mondo huge breakfast - much like the one in the picture minus the coffee - stuff ourselves to the point of misery and then relax, study scriptures or veg (sp?) until it's time for church. I hope we'll be able to continue to do this once we have kids, it's hard to say, but in the meantime - I love it! Today we had french toast, hashbrowns and scrambled eggs.
Notice my plate, I'm a separatist. If the syrup touches the eggs or hashbrowns they become inedible. The other thing I love about Sunday (besides church) is the time we have together. Usually we get off to a rough start, almost always having some petty argument on the way to church, but afterward we have dinner, discuss random things from the day, and end with a board game or a movie. It's also the day we Skype Alex's family and get the scoop on the week's happenings. I'm glad we're able to stay in the loop even though we're here, in Utah and they're back home, where I'd like to be at times.
Sunday used to be my least favorite day of the week. It was like having a built in day of restriction every week - no shopping, going out, television. It was a designated stay home and spend time with the family day, which I did not appreciate. Now that I'm older and a smidge wiser, I'm grateful for Sunday. Having a day to rest up and spend time with family is exactly what I need to feel refreshed and get me ready to go into a new week. It's also the one day that I don't have to feel guilty that I'm not cleaning the house or working in the yard. What a great day!
...almost forgot, how about the after church naps? Those are the best.

Looks yummy and sounds fun! I'm sure you can continue it with kids, they'll add fun company, especially because Alex may be missing in the future (being a bishop with meetings all day Sunday kinda spoils the family fun thing :)
I currently spend Sunday mornings alone but I look forward to starting it in the future! My dad always made his famous chocolate chip muffins every Sunday morning and we all loved it! (We're the type of family who eats the exact same thing every Sunday and never gets sick of it)
P.S. Jack's a separatist too. I had to invest in the 99 cent 4 pack of divider plates at Walmart to keep things from mixing together. It may be worth looking into...
Separatists... UNITE! :-)
You know I never mix my food together... isn't that what knives are for? To prop the plate so the juicy stuff stays where it belongs? ;-)
Your ability to keep it up after kids will probably vary depending on what time church starts!
Worse comes to worse, do as Dad does: prepare the big breakfast feast after church. Seriously, I loved going home to scrambled eggs, waffles, etc. for dinner after being at church all day. Heck, it's making me feel a bit homesick thinking of it now...
I'm looking forward to the day when I can afford such luxury again!
