"Oh, the weather outside is frightful...

...and everything but delightful"

A lame rendition, but fitting nonetheless...

We have our very own Winter Wonderland here at the house.

While most would find it stunningly beautiful, I see it as a huge inconvenience. Mother nature is trying her darnedest to keep us from doing anything productive this week. Little does she know, we have a secret weapon:

THE SNOW BLOWER!!

The model we have came with an able bodied and attractive 22-year old male! It's wonderful. Don't worry, I'm not completely useless. I learned how to use the snow blower the next day and cleared most of the driveway by myself. I even followed up with some shoveling to get the remaining ice, which I'm paying dearly for today. My whole body aches. Definitely some sore muscle action going on...

After getting the driveway squared away, Alex did some obligatory frolicking in our front yard.

I was curious to see how deep the snow was and asked him to fall back to see if he would sink all the way to the ground.

He didn't.

Once we finished with that, we came in and tended to more important matters - playing the Wii and taking pictures of my new hideously cute shoes. I love them.

This morning I was pleased to see that our efforts were not in vain - our driveway was still fairly desnowed and continued to melt down during the day. We're almost down to the pavement. Yay! Only 3 more months to go until the snow completely goes away... (Bah!)

P.S. For anyone who is living in Utah and continues to pray for the moisture - PLEASE STOP. Thanks.

You have as much snow as Western Washington is having rain. It's really pouring here and I can only imagine what a nightmare it's going to be for the low-lying areas that are already deluged (is that a word?). :-/

Powell's headed out for California to be with Jen and family for their newest baby's blessing and we think they probably didn't make it before the freeway was closed near Chehalis... and ALL of the mountain passes are closed due to avalanche danger. What a wild winter this has been so far!

See Alex, living in Lockport, NY did pay off! You have mad snow blower and shoveling skills. However we never had a snowblower. P.S. Thanks for wearing your hat. Love Mom

I am so glad I escaped before that hit! As it was, the goijg out of Utah and through Idaho was fraught with scariness anyway. It really makes me appreciate the snow we get back home more, since it doesn't do things like blow around after its hit the ground.

In any case, stay safe out there!

Follow-up... Powells finally got out of here on Saturday and I saw them in the pictures from Jen's. And... it was Thomas' baptism... not a baby blessing this time. Can't believe Jen has an 8 year-old!

Hope you enjoyed the fireside. :-)
