Two words to sum up this week: SLEEP DEPRIVATION.
My Mom has been here in Provo visiting with us since Monday. I've always been somewhat of a night owl, but my mother puts me to shame. On Monday, we were up until 2 am, Tuesday 1:30... and so on. Each night we've managed to get to bed about 30 minutes earlier than the previous night... but it's just not enough. I need sleep and I'd like to think that sleep needs me too. :)
Highlights from the week....
On Monday, Jack and Jill came over and joined us for Family Home Evening. The main topic of discussion was managing finances. Jack and Jill are definitely much better at this than we are and they have this incredible ability to discuss it calmly, without arguing. Truly amazing. It was a great example for us on how to discuss it the right way. In addition, they gave us lots of good information and helpful suggestions on things we could do differently - Thanks guys (for the advice and for saving our marriage)! After the discussion, we busted out the junk food (an essential for any gathering) and played a game of Rummikub. Jack won - I'm chalking it up to beginner's luck.

Later, with our new found budgeting confidence, we had a financial planning session of our own with the assistance of our newest friend, Quicken 2007. The best part is - we went to bed without being angry. This is a huge step for us.

Tuesday was pretty uneventful, but I had one memorable experience that day. While I was at work, my Mom baked crescent rolls. When I got home, the house smelled SO GOOD. Fresh baked bread is one of my favorite smells and eating it is even better. If only my rolls would turn out just as good.
Wednesday my Mom and I decided to move some things around. We moved the TV into the living room and attempted to watch the Wallace & Gromit movie. Meanwhile, Alex had Richie and Mason (missionary friends) over. They talked for over 2 hours, reminiscing about things that happened while they were on their mission. By the end, they were speaking in Georgian so I went into selective hearing mode and tuned them out.

Thursday (today) we took part in our weekly ritual of watching The Office with Denis and Valerie. The Office is my wonder drug... after a long, tiring week The Office always makes me feel better. As usual, this week's episode did not disappoint. The Michael and Holly relationship is so fitting, even if it's extremely ridiculous and awkward. It's great.
Friday our Dads will be coming to town. My Dad has been in Idaho for business and hopes to make it here in the late afternoon. Alex's Dad will fly in later in the evening to spend the weekend with Alex and do "the manly bonding".
Other random monumental occurrences...
I made dinner! I'm trying to get back in the habit of meal planning and preparing more "from scratch" meals at home. This day I prepared a Booth family favorite - 10 points to the first person that can guess what I made.
The kitty made me feel loved after a hard day's work. Normally he starts making demands as soon as I get home, "feed me", "let me out", "pet me", but this day, he just sat and looked cute. Maybe it's because he didn't want me to kick him out of the bed.. after all, it is HIS bed.

I'm glad you've been reunited with The Office. I love that Michael has found his perfect match. They crack me up. I am a little concerned about Jim and Pam though. I don't think the writers are going to let them live happily ever after. I guess that's the problem that comes along with rooting for a TV couple to finally get together. We miss watching with you! Glad you're having a good week!
Hey- went on another date. it went much better. Thank YOU so much for saving my sanity. I miss you guys and am especially jealous of dad being with you :(.
